About Dave's Music Database:

Dave’s Music Database, or The DMDb for short, is devoted to the collection, consolidation, and promotion of music-related best-of lists. It is the place for anyone who loves rating, ranking, reviewing, ranting, and reading about favorite albums, songs, acts, videos, and other things music-related.

About Dave Whitaker:

I launched the DMDB originally as a website to feed my music obsession, but it has branched out into a Facebook page, this blog, and writing. On the latter, I have done appearances on television (see it here), radio (hear it here), book stores, bars, and libraries. I am a 2012 National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) winner and am working on a music-themed novel, Music Lessons from the Pit. To learn more, check out the About page at WritbyWhit.com.

DavesMusicDatabase.com features dozens of best-of lists, an online encyclopedia of hundreds of music makers, and more than 1500 album reviews.

With fans in 40 countries, the DMDB Facebook page offers a chance to interact with music fans internationally. Daily posts relate to best-of lists and music history.

You are here! The DMDB Blog offers music-related essays and snapshots of moments in musical history. As of the end of 2013, the blog was closing in on 400,000 hits. Check out the index for a full list of entries.

A couple books have been published under the DMDB banner, including The Top 100 Songs of the Rock Era, 1954-1999 (in paperback and e-book) and No One Needs 21 Versions of “Purple Haze”…And Other Essays from a Musical Obsessive. Check the books link for details.
